Service Cuts Alert

In July 2003, the MTA proposed a budget which includes $129.3 million in reductions as part of New York City Transit’s Program to Eliminate the Gap in 2003 and 2004. The cuts include reductions in cleaning subway cars, stations, track beds and buses; maintaining infrastructure and signals; inspecting subway cars and overhauling buses; painting bus stops; cuts in subway elevator operators; and removing graffiti.

Take Action Today!

Here's what you can do:

Contact MTA Chairman Peter Kalikow
Tell him to live up to his promise to not cut service if the fare was raised to $2.
Phone: (212) 878-7200

Contact MTA Board Member Kupferman
Tell her to stick up for city transit riders by not voting to cut critical services like elevator operators and subway car cleaners.
Phone: 212-442-8130

Contact Assemblyman Herman D. Farrell, Jr.
Thank him for his support so far in the fight agains the service cuts and that you're counting on his support to get rid of the cuts.
Phone: 212-568-2828
